Calsep conducts analyses of how the fluid composition varies with depth and horizontal position. The analysis takes not only gravity segregation, but also the effect of temperature gradients into consideration. Using this type of analyses, it is possible to distinguish fluids in communication from fluids separated by faults or other geological barriers.
A Common EoS model can be developed for fluids in communication and the depth gradient model can be tuned up to match an observed gas-oil contact.
