About Calsep Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd.
Calsep specialises in developing simulation technology and digital tools for fluid phase behaviour and PVT modelling of petroleum fluids, including the industry leading PVT simulation software PVTsim Nova, which is used by oil and gas engineers across the globe. Established in 2009, Calsep Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd. supports clients across Southeast Asia and Oceania with software, PVT simulation training, and specialised PVT consulting services.
Position Summary
We are seeking a commercially minded, technically credible & self-motivated individual to head Calsep’s Asia Pacific operations as the Regional Manager. In this role, you will steer Calsep’s APAC business, strengthen client relationships, and lead the team while we expand PVTsim Nova adoption and regional growth.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Development & Client Relations
- Sales Strategy and Execution: Maintain and grow software revenue through renewals and new sales across established and emerging markets in the APAC region. Develop and execute regional strategy to increase PVTsim Nova adoption and expand PVT consulting services
- Client Engagement and Presentations: Deliver client-tailored presentations and demos that clearly convey the value proposition of Calsep products and win over technical audiences.
- Brand Representation: Represent Calsep at conferences, exhibitions, and customer events to strengthen brand visibility and generate leads.
- Commercial Management: Generate quotes and execute tender requests for sales, maintenance, and consulting requests for the APAC region.
- Service Quality: Maintain high standards for technical support, training courses and consulting services delivery.
- Customer Relationships: Lead client-engagement initiatives and relay insights to Calsep’s product development team.
- Lead Budget: Lead the annual budgeting process for Calsep APAC by aligning revenue targets and expense projections.
B. Operations, Compliance & People
- Operations & Compliance: Oversee daily office operations, safeguard the APAC entity’s financial health, and ensure full tax, accounting, and legal compliance.
- People: Support the professional development of the local team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in petroleum, chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Malaysian National or existing legal right to work in Malaysia.
- Several years of experience in the oil & gas sector.
Skills & Experience
- Technical background: Candidates should possess a good technical foundation in chemical engineering (or similar), ideally with several years practical experience in petroleum engineering applications.
- Technical Sales and Business Development: You should have an interest in technical sales of specialized engineering software, with an understanding of customer negotiation, sales strategies, and commercial processes. A good understanding of market expansion opportunities across the APAC region and the ability to execute business development activities that are needed to capture them are also important.
- Communication: Effective communication and presentation skills are essential to explain complex simulation concepts to diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical. You will also be required to engage various stakeholders, from technical users to senior executives, and lead client engagement initiatives.
- Result Orientation & Mobility: This role requires a result-oriented approach with an understanding of financial management and a keen interest in overseeing annual budgets. Willingness to travel across the APAC region and internationally is essential.
Preferred Extras
- MBA or equivalent business qualification
- Experience in digitalization initiatives for data management and application workflows
- Experience running digital outreach and marketing campaigns on LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia.
